Now I Know What Noah Must Have Felt Like

About the time we thought the storms were over, here they came again. Sixty out of the last 90 days we have witnessed rain in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Not just sprinkles, but a deluge of rain, winds, tornadoes, and hail. We’ve had 24 inches of much needed moisture. We’re grateful, but didn’t expect this “present” all at one time.

I never knew until now how much rain and storms affect our lives. Roofs, fences, trees, septic tanks, roads and travel . . . the list never seems to end. I was tempted to go out and purchase gopher wood and start building my own ark.

What does all of this have to do with property management? It emphasizes the importance of giving your property a “check-up.” Keep your trees cut back, make sure your roof is in good condition, does your fence need to be repaired. Take an inventory of your insurance coverage. Work closely with your property manager to keep your investment in “weather-ready” condition.

These past 90 days have been an important lesson for all of us. Now that I’ve seen some sunshine, I don’t want to forget the importance of being prepared!
